TaxBrain.com Welcomes Heavy Online Tax Preparation and eFiling as Taxpayers Now Receiving W-2 Forms

Tracy, CA--(Business Wire)--January 26, 2006--America's employers are now sending out millions of W-2 forms and taxpayers anxiously anticipating refunds are signing up in record numbers to file their tax returns online. At TaxBrain.com (http://www.taxbrain.com), as well as other industry leaders such as Intuit's Turbo Tax Online (http://www.turbotax.com) and H&R Block's TaxCut Online (http://www.taxcut.com) more taxpayers than ever are taking their annual IRS transaction the Internet.

Eric Hayes, TaxBrain.com Senior Tax Analyst explained, "Employers must distribute withholding forms before the end of January. In fact, online registrations at TaxBrain.com are 80% ahead of this time last year. That's largely because taxpayers have come to expect their refunds in a matter of days when returns are e-filed online."

Smart Computing Magazine's (http://www.smartcomputing.com) just-released PC Novice Reference Series "Taxes and Personal Finance," (published by Sandhills Publishing Company) devotes an entire section to "Taxes and Technology." According to one reviewer, "One of the reasons people like filling out their tax forms online is that is can be so darn easy. That's generally true with TaxBrain, now approaching it's sixth season."

PC Novice illustrates how one of the most common IRS forms, the W-2, is handled by TaxBrain.com: "The screen you see will resemble the W-2 your employer sent you. You simply look at the information on the paper form and type the same data, including employer identification number, wages, and federal income tax withheld, onto the TaxBrain worksheet. Click the save button. When done, click the Calculate button to calculate the refund amount you expect."

Not a Super Bowl fan? Do your taxes instead!

According to Todd Taylor, Director of Affiliate Marketing for Petz Enterprises (http://www.petzent.com), "Over the years we have seen a significant spike in tax preparation during the Super Bowl. While the exact reasons may be hard to pin down, it appears that while the some folks are totally absorbed by the game, it can be a perfect time for the non-fan to quietly, quickly and easily complete the taxes. Best of all, e-filing means receiving the refund in a matter of days."

Of America's 132 million federal taxpayers, more than 100 million will receive a tax refund this year.
